Aug 21 Sat.

Nancy phoned last night to say she was coming: sent a wire this morning that she couldn't.
Difficult day. Laura not well but working on preface to her poems. Children out riding: until tea did not see them.
Norman came.
Wrote 4 pp [pages] of Ch [Chapter] 6 with difficulty. In evening played games: children too tired, relapsed into magazines.
David got angry & rushed away with Time when I did not want him to remove it.
