               </choice>.  Stone lion plaque for <rs type="place" ref="ref:Pos1">Posada</rs>, 2 pes. (both at <rs type="person" ref="ref:Ca3">Casas</rs>). Otherwise bought only current household things: and 25 p<supplied>ts.'-worth</supplied> of plants <add hand="ref:h_RG">(peony, <choice>

               <foreign>Capella Classica</foreign> saw Thomas.<note>Thomas was the director of the <foreign>Capella Classica</foreign> choir. He lived in Palma and was friendly with foreigners. WG</note>

	Wall gravelled: now called 'The <foreign>Mercado</foreign>'<note>The Market?? eds. Not known. Unless it is the main wall which separates the garden from the main road. There are irises planted on top. This was a new idea in the village and I can imagine Gelat saying "it looks like a market." WG</note>.</p>

   The 5 o'clock plane dropped no bombs.  A bit is said to have been knocked off the cathedral <add hand="ref:h_RG" place="right margin">and 6 killed &amp; 20 injured in the morning.  Others say 12 killed.</add>

            <p>Overcast day.  <bibl><rs type="cita" ref="ref:Sch"><hi rend="text-decoration: underline;">Schools</hi></rs></bibl>.</p>
            <p>The smith<note>blacksmith eds.</note> brought the missing knob for the balustrade.  He reports that the <foreign>cabo</foreign><note>N.C.O. KG; Non-Commission Officer eds.</note> of the <foreign>Guardia Civil</foreign><note>Civil Guards KG</note> put up '<foreign>Gran Victoria</foreign>'<note>Great Victory eds.</note> on the public notice-board after the bombardment.             <p>Bombs in <rs type="place" ref="ref:Pal1">Palma</rs>: five planes.  The bombs are 'cannisters' like the sort the Germans used at <rs type="place" ref="ref:Fri01">Fricourt</rs>
 filled with scrap metal; great moral effect, kill many, do little harm to property.  <add hand="ref:h_RG">After nine o'clock all shops shut except chemists shops.</add>
