Hot. First day of straw-hats & sun-glasses. Went over typed fifth chapter of Antigua. Gelat, Amador, Sebastian, Miguel the carpenter worked all day on putting up wooden horizontals of vine-arbour. I blackpainted Salamó's kennel, which the girls had whitewashed inside. Went with him to Calabat to pay for a chicken (8.50 pts at 2pts the tercia) 1 and order another for tomorrow. Amador started to creosote the arbour.
Gelat brought his account. 4882 pesetas for 4 months including wages, mortgage payments, carpenters, Salamo,2 patent boiler, & stove.
