July 5 Monday.

A.G. again came to say goodbye. Gave me £1 for my birthday, apples, bananas.
Laura did not come in the morning.
I got up & walked about painfully. My wound is all but healed.
A 12 pp [pages] letter from Sam: answered in 12 foolscap pp [pages].
Five more drafts of To Break Delight which I am not sure about.
Reading the Turkey book1: I don't like these provocatively virtuous travellers.
Pannett gave me permission to go tomorrow: a week under usual time.[RG]
Alan & Beryl came.
Dick & Clarissa came.
Karl twice.
Wrote to Home Office for extension of his permission to stay.
