San Bernardo1 Aug 20th Tuesday.

Made green[RG]tomato pickle — 9 big jars, 1 small. 7 litre[RG]bottles of juice. This time put in apples, pimiento2 (green), mint, marjoram, lemon verbena, rosemary, lemon-rind, samphire, sultanas, chutneypowder[RG], pepper, mace, cinnamon, brown sugar, white sugar, ginger, garlic, mustard, onions, vinegar & the[RG]green tomatoes themselves.
Went over Old Soldiers typing. 150 pp [pages] of R. [Richards]'s orig. [original] mss [manuscript] expanded to 180 pp of text. At this all day. (Laura writing poem for anthology for me to cooperate with.)
Went to Son Canals for Bernardo's fiesta3. There met his sister & niece from Marseilles and arranged a dance for Saturday, at 8 o'clock at Canellun. Joke about being denounced for pickle-making.
Then to Sala, listened to dance-music on the new radio.
On return Laura gave Carl further instructions for Sabater.
