Enclosure – RG Letter to Editor of Colne Times

Editor Colne Times
Dear Sir,
Only four unfavourable notices of my A.P.P. , out of more than 100, have hitherto appeared in England. This includes one in your Jan [January] 15 issue. By a queer fatality the first 2 – in the News Chronicle and Observer – was in each case followed by the sudden death of the reviewer. In the third case, the Schoolmaster, the notice appeared posthumously two days after the reviewer's death. As a student of coincidences I should be much interested to hear of any untoward accident that may have undert[RG]overtaken your Mrs. H. Halliwell, who has awarded the 'prize for the worst novel of 1936' to my book.
Yours faithfully,
