Enclosure – RG Letter to Editor of Colne Times

Editor Colne Times
Dear Sir,
Only four unfavourable notices of my A.P.P., out of more than 100, have hitherto appeared in England. This includes one in your Jan [January] 15 issue. By a queer fatality the first 2 – in the News Chronicle and Observer – was in each case followed by the sudden death of the reviewer. In the third case, the Schoolmaster, the notice appeared posthumously two days after the reviewer's death. As a student of coincidences I should be much interested to hear of any untoward accident that may have undert[RG]overtaken your Mrs. H. Halliwell, who has awarded the 'prize for the worst novel of 1936' to my book.
Yours faithfully,
