Typist collected the work. I started more. We went to Oxford with Tom & Julie by train. Stayed at Clarendon. Called on Tom (porter at St John's). We went to dinner at Ch.Ch. at the rooms of Howarth. I in evening dress, Laura in red velvet skirt, gree[RG]
long[RG]emerald earrings, white blouse with many red buttons, gold Ibizan necklace.
Present L, me, Tom, Julie, Dunnet, Alan Hodge, a girl called Tallent[RG], Kenneth Allott, and Audrey Beecham.
At Taylorian Institute
Laura addressed English club. Subject: The End of The World and spoke at the end on politics.
Howarth had just made a speech on the importance of the English Club being an anti-fascist
organization. Some good questions e.g. by one Charles Owen an American, & several obstructive ones from obvious communists. Afterwards talk
in the Randolph lounge. Mostly Allott. We liked Audrey Beecham best.
